With Easter Sunday falling this year on National Haiku Day, the more whimsical side of Etiquetteer chose to embrace the combination.
Easter Etiquette:
Go put on your Sunday clothes.
Look respectable.
Put a fine polish
On those dress shoes so people
Can see their faces.
Tuck your shirttail in.
Only the Easter Bunny
Has his tail stick out.
Comb your hair and put
Your clean pocket handkerchief
In your suit pocket.
Are you sure your tie
Is knotted up to the top
Of your collar? Good.
No talking in church, you.
Listen to the minister.
Listen quietly.
If you do not know
The hymn, it is better to
Stand still silently.
Don't be impatient
To get back to the car now.
It isn't time yet.
We greet the preacher
On the way out and say "Thank
You, Happy Easter."
Say "Thank you, ma'am" when
The nice old ladies tell you
How handsome you look.
Now you may take out
Your basket and hunt for eggs.
No, they aren't all gone.
And then you may eat
Some of your candy. But not
So much you get sick.
Save some to enjoy
Later in the week at school.
No, it isn't silly.
