Yesterday the electrician was messing about for awhile. I confess I was most incurious, but stuck my nose in about 4:30, when I came back from my walk through the cemetery. It did indeed look like he’d been busy . . . not that I could explain it.
Today I heard from the contractor that the inspection is now scheduled for early Thursday morning. The idea had been for it to be completed by Wednesday evening so the plasterer could come in to do the sheetrock walls before the cabinets arrive on Friday. I’m very much afraid that the crew will end up doing a lot of shifting enormous boxes of cabinetry back and forth. The contractor said they would “move them on the porch for plaster and move them back in the kitchen that evening. We are better looking at the cabinets than looking for them.” To which I replied, “I’ll drink to that!”
In other news, you know the cemetery has become my favorite place to walk this year. One of the creepier graves there is the Boy in the Boat, little Louis Mieusset, whose heartbroken mother erected a marble statue of him in his last moments. As the story goes, little Louis saw his pet bunny on the riverbank, reached to bring him into the boat, fell into the water, and drowned. Now, look what someone did. Someone left a ceramic bunny in front of the grave . . . WHERE HE STILL CANNOT REACH IT! Look down there, by the carved dove at bottom left. That’s a ceramic bunny vase! I swear this could be on the Twilight Zone or something.
