1) This morning first thing I was reminded via a total stranger's post on ye Fycebykke that my beloved cousin Susan died one year ago today. A courageous and beautiful woman inside and out, Susan made her mission connecting the descendants of slaves and slaveowners. She discovered a lot of inconvenient truths about our great-great-grandfather Trotter, who not only owned slaves and fathered children by them, but even wrote a book on slave management. Had she lived, I know Susan would have been actively engaged in the national dialogue earlier this year about the fate of Confederate monuments.
2) Haircut at 8:30 AM, General Mail Facility for Christmas stamps, shopping near South Station, and phone chat with Niece Who Must Not Be Tagged.
3) Now at the Athenaeum to work on Christmas cards (see above), perhaps the latest I've ever gotten started.
