1) I love how just one morning meeting of no more than 30 minutes can leave one spinning sparks like a pinwheel with ideas.
2) This also gave me a chance to revisit one of my favorite quotes from Hawthorne, from his “Old Esther Dudley” in “Legends of the Province House,” part of his Twice Told Tales: “Then with tottering feet, which age and tremulous joy caused to tread amiss, she hurried down the grand staircase, her silks sweeping and rustling as she went, so that the sound was as if a train of spectral courtiers were thronging from the dim mirror. And Esther Dudley fancied that as soon as the wide door should be flung open, all the pomp and splendor of by-gone times would pace majestically into the Province House, and the gilded tapestry of the past would be brightened by the sunshine of the present.”
3) It is so easy, so very easy just to slouch through the day in lounge pants and a sweater, but I dressed for this morning meeting — dress shirt, bow tie, cufflinks, actual trousers — and I must say it made a difference. In these trying times we have to take our motivation where we may.
