1) I’ve been away from ye Fycebykke for several days, and y’know, it felt great for the most part. And when I think what a dominant part of my life this platform was 7-10 years ago . . . what a change.
2) January has had its ups and downs with me, but in the last 24 hours, four separate incidents of encouragement have really buoyed my spirits:
In the mail I received a Lovely Note of Encouragement (above) from a cousin.
It’s rare for me to receive fan mail from total strangers, but yesterday evening I got this message from an unfamiliar email address, signed by the name of a celebrity designer of Christmas ornaments - so clearly from someone who wants to remain anonymous: “Dear Man, Your column is brilliant fun. THANK YOU!! More joy to you. And here's to human connections grounded in compassion, respect, and humane regard. Keep'em coming!”
Last night I was at an event meeting and tossed an idea into the discussion. After a pause there was the most beautiful collective “Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!” from the other end of the table. They liked what I had to say, and I thought “Yup, the old boy’s still got it!”
This morning a New York friend texted me “How goes your way, artist?”
3) Just published a column, and I feel pretty good about it. Moving on to the next thing now!
