1) I still need to get more things out of this house than in. So it was a long-awaited victory today to bring my outgrown formal clothes and a couple pairs of shoes off to Keezer’s and, in the words of the late Fats Waller, get some cash for my trash.
1a) Back in grad school was the last time I’d shopped there, when vintage was more in fashion, at their original Central Square location. I was surprised they’d moved all the way out to Porter Square!
1b) The proprietor and I ended up have a very cordial conversation about menswear, the holidays, and what the boys are wearing now, and a dapper younger affiliate took time to praise my maroon fedora. He shops at the same hatter!
2) Like Amanda Wingfield with her jonquils, I think I have stuffed just about every vase in the house with holly from the bushes in the back. Twenty Decembers have I lived at Maison Robaire, and I think I have gathered holly for my rooms only three or four times. Frankly, those bushes need pruning and shaping.
3) Tonight, at last, I hope to get started on my Christmas cards, and then I have a bit of shopping still to do tomorrow. But I think I will slide in just under the wire before all the bad weather begins!
