1) Diana Rigg has died after a rich full life. Perhaps her most important film was one of her first, A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 1968. I’ll never forget seeing the film at Interlochen my junior year, and especially this monologue:
1a) Mercy, looking at her IMDB page I barely recognize a title. And I had no idea she was on that show about a throne . . .
1b) Perhaps she is the Diana Wynyard of her generation?
2) Later I acquired her wonderful collection of mean theatre criticism, No Turn Unstoned, absolutely invaluable to those who love 20th-century theatre.
3) I’ve already posted in this space someone’s tribute video to Mrs. Peel of Cake’s “Short Skirt, Long Jacket,” but also seems appropriate to repost today.
